Manhattan, where payphones go to die

Look what we spotted via Gothamist: a graveyard for disused payphones underneath Manhattan’s West Side Highway at 135th and 12th Avenue. As Dave Bledsoe said on his Flickr page, “At least a one hundred old, battered pay phones were locked behind a fence near the Park’s Department building.” We love how he also healthily noted that “I almost took these on my iPhone, but my irony levels are dangerously low these days.”
