Lightning strike scars in the shape of Lichtenberg Figures

These tattoo-like markings are, amazingly, the result of being struck by lightning and living to tell the tale. The strange patterns that form are in the shape of Lichtenberg Figures, which are examples of fractals.

These branching figures are typically seen on the surface or interior of insulating materials that have been struck by lightning. It’s a pretty rare phenomenon to be struck by lightning, let alone be left with this strange design imprinted on your body.
