Real Google Street View images show unexpected scenes of everyday life

Montreal-based artist Jon Rafman collects real undoctored screen captures of Google Street View that come with surprising and unexpected sights — such as vans going up in smoke and snow monkeys soaking up in hot springs. As he wrote in a commentary for Art F City, ‘This very way of recording our world, this tension between an automated camera and a human who seeks meaning, reflects our modern experience.’ It’s fascinating stuff.
