Alongside Dizzlecciko, Animales Exóticos Desamparados and diaBlo, Mostro are one of the most interesting bands I heard during my three years living in Santiago de Chile. Mostro are Carlos and Jaime Reinoso, two brothers who make strange instrumental electronica with live percussion (think UK post punk band This Heat, Mount Kimbie and Jad Fair’s instrumental record, Best Wishes).

I was lucky to get hold of their great record, Consumido por Pajaros (with great artwork from Carlos, who is a illustrator by trade) from a friend who bought it after he saw them play with Steve Albini’s Shellac in 2007. He thought Mostro were long finished. But this video clip from 2012 proves otherwise. A great, largely unknown, band.
