Unlocking the Truth: a heavy metal band of 12 year-olds

Unlocking the Truth is a heavy metal band made up of 12-year-olds Malcolm Brickhouse, Jarad Dawkins and Alec Atkins. Based in Brooklyn, Malcolm and Jarad started playing music with each other at the age of 5. They met bassist, Alec, at a children’s day care centre.

Unlocking The Truth first gained national attention on, where else, YouTube, and by the time they were 11, they were juggling sixth grade homework with club gigs at night. Inspired by Metallica, SlipKnot and Escape the Fate, the boys declare on their website: ‘Heavy metal is in our blood’. We believe it.
