The East: an indie thriller starring Ellen Page

This American thriller starring Brit Marling, Alexander Skarsgard, Ellen Page, Patricia Clarkson and directed by Zal Batmanglij, focuses on Sarah Moss, a former FBI agent now paid by pharmaceutical companies to watch eco-terrorist groups. She is sent to infiltrate an anarchist group called The East, who are self-styled fighters of what they consider to be poisonous and illegal activities.

Sarah soon finds herself falling for Benji (Alexander Skarsgard), the charismatic frontman of the group. In the process, she starts to question the morals that are driving her undercover mission, as environmental issues and themes around anti-corporate anarchy begin to weigh on her consciousness.

Filmed in Shreveport, Louisiana, The East premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and will be released in the UK on June 28.
