Steve Girard’s nightmarish illustrations

Elephants playing keyboards; melting faces; hands for eyes; and monsters… lots of monsters. This is the work of Steve Girard. It’s the type of art that perfectly sums up that weird part of the Internet you find yourself browsing in the early hours. He evokes Gary Larson with his surrealism and recurring character types and there’s even a hint of Robert Crumb to his style. His illustrations are bizarre and disturbing yet at the same time colorful and funny. All in a dark, messed up way.

About the author

Jake Sheridan is a writer from the UK, but don’t let that put you off. He enjoys art, the weird, the strange, writing lists and talking about himself in the third person. Come say hello:

INVITE: 6 Aussie artists will turn Sydney's aMBUSH Gallery into a giant canvas for a night!

We've assembled a group of talented young creatives and armed them each with a new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 or Microsoft Surface Book on which to create an original piece of art. The big reveal of these works will take place on December 10 at an immersive event at Sydney's aMBUSH Gallery. If you want to come along, let us know why here.
