Ruth Power’s exquisite sculptures come from an odd source: Japanese tentacle pornography. It all began she she typed ‘tentacle’ into Google images (with the Safe Search off!) and began to research her explicit findings in depth. The fruits of her labour resulted in very fine, translucent porcelain sculptures of her own body parts, adorned with writhing tentacles from the inside and out. Power’s work examines power, porn, and contemporary sexuality.
