A decaying bread world: art series by Johanna Martensson

Johanna Martensson, an artist from Sweden, took photographs of model buildings made of bread as they decayed to represent the destiny of our cities once humans are extinct. She was inspired by an article that described how well the Earth would do without us.

All its buildings would have fallen or be half fallen within 500 years, making ideal homes for animals and plants, with the forest growing into the cities. There would be little evidence of us should a UFO give Earth a visit in a few hundred thousand years.
