In my paintings, I combine the figurative and non-figurative to create a world that can only exist in a painting. I want to tell a story, visualize a feeling, or capture a certain atmosphere that can move the viewer. Sometimes the process is as important as the picture itself. The painting Mistranslation is based on a photo of a screen playing an old low-resolution TV commercial. This process has distorted the picture to such a degree that the characters have been transformed into somebody new, telling a whole different story.
