Disturbing Instagram photos from the Boston bombing manhunt

These photos of residential houses surrounded by SWAT teams and Humvees are a little disturbing. As some of the captions state, ‘It’s not a movie’, and ‘May this nightmare end soon’. These are real life photos from real life people with no agenda. The snapshots were taken via Instagram during the lockdown manhunt for the Boston bomber. It’s interesting to see how the widespread use of social media has changed our view of current events.

Social media gives a very honest take on events while they are happening. I can only imagine the fear and confusion felt by these amateur photographers. Something about seeing soldiers pointing their guns at a house with children’s toys scattered around the yard sends chills down my spine.
