New art by Vahge Young

Vahge (v-AH-zhe) is a Brooklyn-based collage artist who I’ve been lucky to meet recently. She makes figures stitched together from various magazine models that vaguely seem like Frankensteinian dolls living in old Victorian houses. They appear proper and full of etiquette while at the same time having a darker edge, often being made up of fangs or claws of wild animals. Looking at her mostly female figures, I am curious whether they want to share a cup of tea with me, seduce me, or disembowel me, and perhaps even more, I am curious which option I’d prefer.

INVITE: 6 Aussie artists will turn Sydney's aMBUSH Gallery into a giant canvas for a night!

We've assembled a group of talented young creatives and armed them each with a new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 or Microsoft Surface Book on which to create an original piece of art. The big reveal of these works will take place on December 10 at an immersive event at Sydney's aMBUSH Gallery. If you want to come along, let us know why here.
