These odd book titles are, well, odd
The shortlist for The Diagram Prize – which awards the oddest book title of the year by popular vote — is out and there are six nominees on it. So, what is more odd: the fact that a competition to find the oddest title actually exists, or that these book titles are really quite odd? Still, we can’t say we didn’t see the chortles coming, so do brace yourself for some pretty audacious stuff. Our favourite’s the rather succinct but ponderful ‘Was Hitler Ill?’

My chicken loft is plagued by goblins or, possibly, the ghosts of far from well ex-dictators. What can I do? I threatened them with a lead pencil but, due to my lamentable sharpening skills, the demons merely snickered at the blunt instrument. A voice from heaven commanded me to cast out the damned with a display of my manhood but, as I always encase it in a tea cosy, this just led to outbursts of fiendish hilarity. Please help me. Can you recommend a good book? Desperate of North America.
