Marine microworlds: the private life of plankton

You’ve never seen plankton up close and personal like this before. Finally, after 10 years of research conducted by scientists from 21 different laboratories, we can now get a close look at plankton from all over the globe. These pictures were taken using groundbreaking technology by the crew members of the research vessel Tara. All together, more than one million new species of these tiny creatures were discovered during the process.
