Life-sized Lego creations meets large-scale photos

Lego artist Nathan Sawaya recently teamed up with Aussie photographer Dean West to collaborate on In Pieces, which debuted late last year at the Columbus Museum of Art. The seven-part series shot in various parts of North America combines Sawaya’s life-sized toy brick creations with West’s large-scale photography, forcing you to look closely in order to discern where the intricate bricks are. Check out the Lego umbrella in the rain shot. It won’t, like the picture suggests, really keep the rain out, but it will keep that smile on your face as you look at it.
