Looking at Belgian artist Lawrence Malstaff’s 2010 Shrink installation, which vacuum-packed the artist himself between two transparent plastic sheets and leaves him vertically suspended as he slowly changed positions in his performance, we couldn’t help but think about the photo series of the vacuum-packed couples that went viral last year. It’s a cleverly-designed device — basically the suction level within the sheets can be controlled by using the thumb to open and seal the vacuum tube. So, this is how we might learn to levitate one day, maybe?
