I discovered Jess Iglehart’s work about five years ago when I purchased one of his paintings. Since then, Iglehart’s expertise has expanded as he’s studying Experimental Animation at CalArts. His illustrations take influence from Egon Schiele, Edward Gorey and Japanese ghost stories. Raised on MTV animation in the 90’s, his recent animations contrast his illustration style, using retro futuristic analogue visuals. His work is evolving in to a unique hybrid vision with great promise- he already has a secret commission coming out next year, keep an eye on this one.
