The first lock, historians estimate, probably existed as far back as 4,000 years ago. Yeah, it can’t have taken long between owning stuff and having to beat off the grubby hands of other people who want that same stuff. Like, you know, your booze. Solution: a combination lock that works on wine and spirit bottles, so you can be sure none of your liquid joy slips out of the bottle when you’re away. Reminds us of Ben & Jerry’s pint lock, actually.
