I can’t live without music that makes me smile and that takes me to another place. At any given time, this might be the Doves, Chemical Bros, Angus Stone… Johnny Cash. The list is endless. The feeling remains the same: bliss!

I can’t live without my soul.

I can’t live without the best and most underrated band of the last 50 years. ELO ( Electric Light Orchestra) that is right I said it. One of the best bands of the last 50 years is ELO. So talented so quintessentially 70′s prog rock. Just for that reason alone I can’t live with out them but still their themes , lyrics and harmonies are great. They are still as unique as any band out there and as talented.

I can’t live without my Triple J hottest 100 albums. Excellent music for road tripping and singing along at the top of my lungs!

Celine Dion… no seriously…

I heard this track (Lil’ Rascals Brass Band: Knock With Me – Rock With Me) on an episode of Treme and ever since I have listened to it every single day and never burnt out on it. If I couldn’t listen to any other piece of music for the rest of my life, this would be enough. It’s wild. It’s fun. It makes me grin like an idiot and yell out “Mama don’t cry” on a crowded bus. I need to buy a sousaphone …

Love me some Delta blues. No, I need me some Delta blues. No day is complete without some Muddy Waters.

If someone told me that i would never again be able to drift into dreamland whilst listening to Sigur Ros, I would be very upset indeed.

Music is an integral part of my life. It shapes my moods and alters my days; it inspires me, motivates me, soothes and comforts me. I love all types of music passionately and honestly, I can’t live without ANY music. If I had to choose between no music ever and having to listen to the old Vegemite jingle over and over again all day long, I’d choose the jingle! Lol.
Bus seriously, I can’t live without music which bases itself on strong lyrics and soulful tones. Some of my most beloved musical stylings belong to Angus & Julia Stone, Florence and the Machine, The Be Good Tanyas, Radical Face, Bon Iver, The Cinematic Orchestra, Norah Jones, Cat Power, Pink, Mumford and Sons, Paloma Faith, Sarah Blasko, The Waifs, Muse… Ahhh the list goes on forever!!!

Couldn’t live without live music. The interaction between musician and audience is such a thrill for both sides.

I am falling in love all over again with songs from my childhood in the 1970s – I love suddenly remembering a song from way back, and going and finding it on iTunes…. eg David Dundas Blue Jeans ad! impossible to listen to that and not smile…
Jen Monday 17 December 2012
I can’t live without Triple J’s music at work, and we need a lot more boom than what’s in that box!
Stixxx Monday 17 December 2012

Stars To Get By (A Gattaca Music Video)… seems to suit the futuristic but somewhat classic styling of the Boombox!
One of my all time favorite movies and vocals by the dreamy – Dallas Green! So much in the video!

David Holmes – Let’s Get Killed, Boards of Canada – Music Has The Right To Children and Abdullah Ibrahim – Cape Town Revisited.
3 x best album ever. You should get them.

Living without music would be pretty bleak but what brings joy to my ears is the element of surprise when I hear a new sound, it’s like opening presents on christmas-day as an eager child who finds that promising toy, object of desire and comfort blanket. Lucky I have my little ears for they make the joy of music possible and allow me to hear all the talented musicians who move my heart and bones.
Mathew Monday 17 December 2012
I can’t live without music in my life, it brightens my day and with different songs, highlights moments throughout my life. My own personal soundtrack! Where would I be without music to trigger these wonderful memories?
Bec Monday 17 December 2012
I can listen to any type of music. I generally choose not to listen to the so-called “Top 40″ but even that would be bearable over the silence in our office at the moment. Our previous speakers along with laptops, screens, coffee machine and other personal items were stolen from our office recently.

I can’t live without Missa Solis: Requiem for Eli. You can read the story here http://shop.abc.net.au/products/missa-solis-requiem-for-cd. It’s an incredibly powerful and moving piece. It has delicate high moments as well as strong bass lines and an electrifying percussion number. Track 8 is the most played tune on my iPod – it’s emotional and visceral. I simply don’t have a stereo to match the quality of the music, to give it the sound it deserves.
Jon Colours Monday 17 December 2012
Johnny Cash. He is one of the few artists whose Christmas Album doesn’t make you wish Jesus was never born. Merry Christmas y’all.
ben keys Monday 17 December 2012
INXS. Kick.
Yep, really.
I have it on cassette in my car [Lord knows where the tape came from...] and i don’t ever want to not have it handy.
Solid from go to whoa. Yeh.
Louisa Monday 17 December 2012
Warpaint. Hands down. Nothing like 4 girls from LA rocking out.
Jon Shriver Monday 17 December 2012
I can’t live without the Black Keys. Their music has some sort of soul that creeps under my skin, makes me move and I just can’t shake it.
Rob Monday 17 December 2012
Ho Ho Ho!
At this time of the year it has to be a bit of She & Him – “A Very She and Him Christmas”
Beats the pants off Bing, Slade or Sir Cliff, which we can all live without.
KessBD Monday 17 December 2012
I may see the world through my eyes, tell my stories through pictures, but I understand everything through music. I’d be lost and voiceless without it. Not to mention directing far fewer music videos.
colby watkiss Monday 17 December 2012
MUSIC: it’s in my bones, without it I couldn’t:
wake with a smile,
dance in the shower,
drive without rage,
learn and remember,
sing to heal sadness,
drum on my thighs ’till they blush,
or ever know true joy.
Its what you do with your ears.
Kym Monday 17 December 2012
QUEEN! Because every now and then we need reminding “We are the Champions, my friend!” As loudly as your boom box can play…
Angharad Monday 17 December 2012
Driving music… cheerful, upbeat music to drive me to work (I wouldn’t get there otherwise).
Sadia Awan Monday 17 December 2012
One word. Four letters.
ABBA.
Every song goes perfectly with any and every situation in life.
Dan Harvey Monday 17 December 2012
I can’t live without air, and by air I mean hard drugs.
troy Monday 17 December 2012
i can not live without music everywhere!
AliB Monday 17 December 2012
I seem to always return to the Cure – a lifetime orgasmic crush. More recently I’m falling for Asta, the Tasmanian triple j unearthed winner this year. Fabulous.
Enjoy the boom in your box.
Marion C Tuesday 18 December 2012
cant live without massive attack forever and always
Zander Tuesday 18 December 2012
Seeed. Super rad big-band style dub/reggae…in German, which I don’t understand. Summer. Bring it.
Matt Tuesday 18 December 2012
I can’t live without ALL music. Musical styles drive my emotions and I use music as a mood changer and/or mood enhancer. Most of the time, I want my mood to be upbeat so electronica usually dominates. But really, I can’t choose a single type.
megs Tuesday 18 December 2012
can’t live without the magnetic fields. managed to be funny and sad all at the same time.
Peter Tuesday 18 December 2012
I couldn’t live without emotional songs. They lift me and take me out of myself. My favourite song is “Love Changes Everything”. Close behind come “When You Say Nothing at All” and “Angels”. In each case, the romantic words are perfectly matched to emotive music. This is very softening and peaceful music.
emmymaie Wednesday 19 December 2012
techno – makes the world go ’round.
Mim Wednesday 19 December 2012
Music is the most emotive art form, and without it the soul cannot be fed. I don’t care what it is so long as it has a clear melody and a beat…
tam costello Wednesday 19 December 2012
I can’t live without the songs my daughter and I sing to, and have for years… Regina Spektor, Sia Furler, The Waifs. These songs always bring back the most excellent memories of love, of play and family.
Ketakii Wednesday 19 December 2012
Wow. There is so much music that I don’t think I could live without. Cinematic Orchestra – To Build a Home, Micheal Jackson – Thriller, Ben Howard – Only Love, Erykah Badu – What a Day, and almost every other song of hers. These are but a few on a long, long, long list. Music inspires, transports, communicates that which I cannot. Doubles my joy, shares my sadness. Music is food for the soul.
Paul Thursday 20 December 2012
Alt-J, San Cisco, Regina Spektor and Radiohead are on high rotation or I turn to JJJ.
At this time of the year I would choose music to turn on, grab a nice drink, lie back and look up into the sky…….
zeke Thursday 20 December 2012
Couldn’t live without live music. It’s so personal and the interaction between audience and musician is a real thrill for both sides.
Stephen Thursday 20 December 2012
Sigur Ros. They take me to places that I’ve never been before and sometimes it’s hard to get back!
Listening to them is like being in a rock club with Beethoven.
Saw them on their recent tour of Oz. They were awesome – a religious experience for a non-believer.
Alexander Thursday 20 December 2012
I can’t live without Eels. Mr E’s lyrics are at turns touching, amusing and poignant, but always tell a story that speak of his life experiences pleasant and not so pleasant, as well as to mine. Their music is deliciously varied, from the sweet sounds of Electro-Shock Blues to the guttural tones of Souljacker.
Tori Thursday 20 December 2012
Love a bit of Vivaldi, Four Seasons, or Pachelbel’s Canon while I’m working, and in my off time I’m currently finding Zaz, Brasstonaut and Ane Brun are suiting my summer music moods.
Deb Crane Thursday 20 December 2012
ACDC because their music rocks.
Taya Nielsen Saturday 22 December 2012
Can’t live without great music! Queen, Eagles, Shadows (not so much Cliff!) Clapton and Frampton. Crank up music & BLISS!!
Celeste Sunday 23 December 2012
