Commenting on YouTube videos has a rep for being a somewhat cutthroat sport, with users competing to see who can come up with the most ridiculous comment that draws the most thumbs up. But then Canadian YouTuber Mark Slutsky came to the realisation that ‘among the usual hate speech and Obama conspiracy theories, you can find these amazing nuggets of humanity—heartbreaking moments from people’s lives recalled by an old favourite song, stories of love and loss, perfectly crystallized moments of nostalgia and saudade”. This is why he’s started this blog to collect these sad comments before they drown with the rest of the drivel. Some are touching, while some are, er, pretty touchy.
