The other night, we were invited to the VIP launch of Queenie’s Jamaican Inspired Grill and Bar at Level 1 of the revamped Forresters hotel in Surry Hills. This pumping little nook adds yet another string to the bow of young pub moguls, James Miller and Jaime Wirth, who have had great success in transforming other local venues, such as The Norfolk and The Carrington.

While the cocktails were well worth the wait and packed a punch, the food was the real winner. Tapas style, our favourites were Pushcart Chicken Wings, Hellshire Ceviche with snapper, avocado, mango and chili, and the mouth watering Jerk Pork Burger with pineapple salsa and slaw. The vibe and d├ęcor is Voodoo Diner and with rum and beer for the dudes and cocktails for the girls, this is tipped to be popular BBQ pick up joint for Surry Hills.
