There’s a fine line between love and hate … and in this case, that fine line is a mirror. This mixed media (wax, hair, ink and mirror) work by British artist James Hopkins is just one out of several brilliant ones that coerce us to think our eyes are playing tricks on us when they’re not. Also recommended: Balance, where he builds tension with furniture sculptures that threaten to fall but stay put; and Vanitas, a series that includes objects placed strategically on shelves to look like skulls.
