Speed of Light: performance made by runners in light suits

Premiering at this year’s Edinburgh International Festival, Speed of Light by Scottish arts charity NVA is a mass choreographed light performance that takes place in Edinburgh’s Arthurs Seat nearly every night from now till Sept 1. For the performance, hundreds of endurance runners make trails of light as they run in light suits, while the walking audience, armed with lit walking staff, also make up part of the performance as they walk to the summit. Each staff contains an individually encoded micro-computer, and the pitch and volume of the music is triggered by movement and altitude, making each performance quite unique. Way cool.
