It is difficult to look away from the Conté Crayon drawings of New York-based Joseph Stashkevetch. The juxtaposition of realism and eerie visual quality makes for one of the most impressive drawing portfolios I have ever have the pleasure of viewing.

ok, i’ll admit it – i wish i could draw as well as these guys who do these realistic drawings. But once your gob has stopped being smacked by their skills, i always come back to the same question – why? Wouldn’t it be easier to just pin up the original photo? Who would know? Where is the wit and the art?
