This video makes me very happy. People talk a lot about how skating can be ‘art’ but too often it descends into competitive jock-like bravado. Ray Barbee has something else going on. His skating is creative and infectious. This video captures a lot of what makes skateboarding important to me.

man I remember as a kid when this came out and being blown away. At the time, the kickflip was just revolutionary, and ray barbee made an art of it…to me, this was the beginning of “new school” skating…
