Interaction designer Joanna Montgomery’s Pillow Talk invention aims to comfort long distance lovers who pine for each other by letting them hear each other’s heartbeats in pillows. Basically, the lovers strap on a ring sensor when they go to bed, the ring wirelessly communicates with the other person’s pillow, and when one of them goes to bed, their lover’s pillow lights up to indicate that, hmm, they are lying in bed somewhere. Placing your head on the pillow means you can hear the real-time heartbeat of your loved one. Judging from all the comments people have left on the company’s Facebook page, people really, really, really, really, really cannot wait for it to be launched. Still, what has happened to good old fashion phone calls?
