Short film about New York-based artist Christine Sun Kim

Todd Selby has created a fascinating short film on the New York-based artist Christine Sun Kim, who produces work exploring the physicality of sound. She incorporates performance into the act of creating sound, where feedback becomes physical, something to be experienced with the body. Being deaf since birth, she cannot hear the sounds herself, only see and feel them. She’s exploring her own interpretation of what sound is, which under her own admission is somewhat distorted. Her world of sound has come from Sign Language, subtitles, emails, text messages and conversations in books, where the information is often filtered and subject to subtle delay.
