Salt and Fat: contemporary fusion cuisine in Queens
Dinner at Salt and Fat may not necessarily be part of anyone’s diet plan, but oh my! It is dangerous and delicious. One starts with an amuse-bouche of popcorn flavored with bacon fat, and continues through a variety of tweaked classics of American, Asian, and contemporary fusion cuisine. Korean BBQ pulled pork sliders and the Pork Belly Buns are must-haves. Try the Yellowtail Tartare with Yuzu gel or the Truffled Beet Salad with its dainty paper-thin slivers of pepperoni for a lighter option. Though not much lighter. There are a few entrée sized options, but it’s more satisfying to eat one’s way through the small plates. Worth the trip to Queens.
