Daily Lives of Sumo Wrestlers by Paolo Patrizi

Being an iconic tradition in Japan where being obese is accepted, photographer Paolo Patrizi documents the daily lives and routines of sumo wrestlers through his series of photographs entitled Sumo.

With now it being a scandalous tradition due to the gambling and organized crime it has been incorporated with, Patrizi shows us how a sumo wrestler’s life isn’t quite as easy one might imagine because of the strict regimes they have to go through to become one: from being in the ring to the code behavior they have to live with. Can sumo wrestling really keep up with the times?
