From Auckland, our Bali Girl, Bec, hired a campervan and set out to see the sights around The Coromandel, which is a two and half hour drive from the airport to the Coromandel Peninsula. With a hectic trip scheduled, it was only right that there were a few relaxing pit stops along the way. What better way to soothe festival (and shopping) weary muscles than a soak in a hot spring. Around the area is the spectacular Cathedral Cove on Hahei Beach and Hotwater Beach, where you can have a warm, natural spa in the sand two hours either side of low tide. Bali Girl also stopped in at Whitianga Thermal Springs, The Lost Spring. The Lost Spring is a unique thermal hot water and spa experience located on New Zealand’s Pacific coast. Sculpted pools, soothing waterfalls, smoking volcano (and perhaps a cocktail or two!), the break offers more than simply a swim in hot water and is the perfect Road Trip pit stop on New Zealand’s North Island.
