Paintings of female forms suffocated by slimy creatures

Monica Cook is an American visual artist working in several different medias. Cook’s surrealistic paintings are both disturbing and intriguing; female forms suffocated by the limbs of slimy creatures and messy foods.

One would think it might be hard to find work such as this pleasant, but the characters seem to be enjoying the situations they are in. Cook forms a bond between living and non-living subject matter in a uniquely grotesque way, helping us to question the way we see relationships to things in our own lives.
