I was in France two years ago and stumbled across a copy of Michel Ocelot’s animation Princes et Princesses. I was instantly hooked. Done entirely in silhouettes each frame is graphically considered and combined with the innocent and unexpected story lines the effect is quite beautiful. Ocelot has worked prolifically since the late 70s constantly exploring new techniques and referencing different cultures. He is a former president of the International Animated Film Association and has won numerous awards for his work.
