The eery funeral portraits of Oleg Dou
You don’t even need a camera to be a photographer anymore, just a cell phone and an opinion. Here is someone who took the time to buy a camera, and make something fantastic. Result: classy. Reality: next year you could probably do the same with your phone.

what’s frustrating about your site is that you dont give us enough information. these are really intersting images and i would love to know how they were made, medium, sizes etc.

I second what Marlowe said – on your home page it said ‘read more…’ about this series of portraits, but there actually is nothing more to read! Somewhat frustrating..

Have to apologise to you guys! Just found the link to a more lengthy discussion on Oleg Dou’s work. Just gotta open my eyes I guess… Curious about the comment on being able to do this next year with one’s phone though. Would love to hear more..? Thanks.

The photographs are interesting – one person’s opinion. I don’t think they make much of statement (personal opinion), although the idea is kind of neat. I like the “feel” of the shots; the grayish tint, the unblemished faces, the “not-a-hair-out-of-place” look. But it says nothing to me.
Also interesting is the word “eery”. It’s a variation on “eerie” I never have encountered before now. Apparently, some dictionaries accept it! It’s just eerie-looking…

Interesting work for certain; However, I have a distinct feeling of unease while looking at these images, which is likely what Oleg Dou intended. Perhaps the images reveal a level of scrutiny that I’m not comfortable with!
Have to agree, also, with Buffalo Bruce on your use of the word “eery”. I’ve seen it used once before in a crossword puzzle, but assumed the writers were just terrible spellers!
