When I stumbled upon prolific Mexican painter Patricio Betteo’s work, I was intrigued by his dense and moody dreamscapes. They have a post-apocalyptic feel with saturated colours, deeply layered shadows and humans wearing bodysuits and facemasks. They are quite unique in technique, the way they use semi-liquid shapes, movement and how the compositions pack the frame.
