GOOD create human infographic to attack traffic congestion

Mono joined forces with GOOD to create a new platform to take on social, economic and environmental issues. GOOD Attacks! uses microvolunteering as a vehicle to raise attention to a problem and spark change. Our first GOOD Attack! was in L.A. attacking the problem of traffic congestion. We leveraged GOOD’s well known use of infographics and created their first human one.

It’s official: this is The World’s Most Relaxing Song

According to scientists, the award for The World’s Most Relaxing Song goes to a band called Marconi Union for their song titled Weightless. Studies at the Mindlab Institute showed that the song induced a 65 percent reduction in overall anxiety and also brought the test subjects’ resting pulse rates down 35 percent lower than their usual resting rates. The song is also marked throughout by low tones that can help induce a trance-like or ‘zoning out’ state. Might not want to listen to it on your drive home from work.

I’m enjoying the writing on the recently launched The Epi-Cure blog, which discusses the ‘latest scientific studies on health and nutrition’, and features interviews with ‘expert scientists, dieticians, and nutritionists’. The site’s founder and editor, Michelle Grey, also runs tasty, healthy recipes from New York chef Benjamin Towill, including today’s installment: Stuffed Zucchini Flowers [above]. Hmmm hmm. I haven’t bought a CD in a while but I was strolling down Wellington’s Cuba Street looking for a bit of inspiration the other day when Liam Finn’s music tapped me politely on the shoulder and dragged me into the music store. Liam is New Zealand music royalty, of Neil Finn descent, although — with his wild hair and beard — he’s looking a bit more like a young Jesus these days. The record is made with the help of an analogue loop machine, and you’ll find the kind of stunning instrumental crescendos that I haven’t heard since The Beatles Hey Jude. He engages emotionally and spontaneously, with both skill and showmanship.

I’ve posted about New Orleans artist Ryn Wilson before, but I also wanted to plug her awesome clothing line, Altar. Nothing’s up at her Etsy shop right now, but keep checking back. Read more

Inspired by Caspar David Friedrich and American Space Travel, the Das Nebelmeer print by Rebel Unlit features a unique collage of mountains and space shuttle smoke. We love this surreal piece, and its partner in crime, the Der Wanderer print. Both works are giclee prints on cotton matt archival 310 gsm paper. Check out these and other cool Rebel Unlit pieces in the Lost At E Minor store. Read more
