Gracie Kendal’s 1000+ Avatar Project
1000 plus avatars and not all of them blue. In fact, these avatars are purely pixelated representations of residents of the virtual world of Secondlife and not a James Cameron film. Gracie Kendal, aka Kris Schomaker, is an artist in both worlds. The portraits explore the idea of the avatar as a constructed online identity and deals with concepts of anonymity, personality, and diversity.

Robert Chaplin is a man driven to accomplish the “never been done before”. Brilliant WeWereMonkeys directed video for Land of Talk
Back in 2008, when I ran the Indie Music Video Festival, I was delighted to receive an exceptionally brilliant and weird music video called We All Belong To Our Before by Davide Di Silvio. So I was thrilled to discover his involvement with Canadian music videomaking team WeWereMonkeys, whose Land of Talk It’s Okay video is the stuff dreams are made of.

Disregard the buzz that surrounds those other cupcake shops in New York City. Cheeks Bakery in Williamsburg houses the best cupcakes that I’ve eaten. The clean and understated decor extends to the menu, where being fancy doesn’t rule on the cupcake shelves. Cheeks offers, simply, vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with either vanilla or chocolate cream. But if you do want more, Cheeks has that as well, a limited selection of pies and cakes.
As someone who thinks more about traveling than actually gets to do it [damn, it should really be the other way around], it was good to come across the latest batch of Wallpaper* city guides the other day. Living vicariously through the pages of the Berlin edition at least made my next choice of holiday destination that much easier. Read more

The scientists explored the surface of our moon until they stood facing the foreboding presence of The Lunar Crystal. The two men stood in awe of the crystal’s existence. They stared without tact; oblivious to the inquisitive voices on the other end of their earpieces.
