Vinyl Jacket: Red Light

Vinyl Jacket deservedly attracted a whole lot of attention in the UK last year, and are set to make people take notice again with their latest super-catchy single, Red Light. Their unique, dance-inspired pop sound is accompanied by a striking video, set on an eerie desert island inhabited by black-lit tribeswomen who can’t help but dance. Highly recommended.

Traktor: new single from Swedish folk-pop group Francis

This Swedish folk-pop group has released an EP, This Must Be Blood, featuring Traktor [above], among other gems. They’ve been on the circuit since 2006, with their live performance being described on Last.fm as ‘an unleashed Tasmanian Devil singing heartbreaking gospelsongs’. Fun.

I’m big on floral prints, which explains why I’m so attracted to the new Winter Kate 2011 Spring collection by Nicole Richie. The line revolves around bright flowery patterns inspired by the 70s to create a chic Bohemian look. It’s all style and no haughtiness.

I am interested in man as a phenomenon. And observing and documenting its object in a vacuum. I am especially interested in the tracks man puts on other people in the world around them. I collect these tracks together and keep them in my paintings. Read more

Austin-based Future Clouds and Radar, the eclectic art-pop ensemble headed by Robert Harrison, has recently released its sophomore recording, Peoria. Where their self-titled debut album showed Harrison as the central figure in a large musical cast, Future Clouds and Radar’s latest offering finds the core band focusing their kaleidoscopic vision into a single cinematic narrative about the illusory nature of mortality. Throughout, Harrison stays true to his genre-hopping eclecticism, leading the journey through a maze of fuzz-box vocals and ethereal keys.
