I just love these wacky cone lamps by Alex Garnett. They were ‘inspired by the spiral energy saver bulb’s simularity to a Mr Whippy style soft ice! In 2 sizes, 2 colours’

Out of Space in the 2nd World: new art by Chantel Schott

My most recent body of work will be hanging at the Warwick Art Gallery from January 12 to February 19. Called Out of Space in the 2nd World, I have experimented with delicately cut-out images from old Atlases as an introduced medium to my paintings, where parts of the world may appear draped through a gypsies hair, or as balloons being held by an astronaut: whimsical, innovative and circular.

Red Lights by Holy Fuck

I went to a music festival last November called Harvest where I found a lot of the bands to be a bit ho-hum. Then I stumbled upon an act I had never seen before. Holy moly, their music was electric. Simply amazing!

Beautiful snow globes by Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz

I’ve had a strange fascination with snow globes ever since I can remember. Whenever I see one, I have to buy it, regardless if it’s the cheap dorky plastic kind from an amusement park or a really elaborate one made by Walter Martin and Paloma Munoz. After getting lost in the quagmire that is the internet, M83’s Digital Shades, first released digitally in 2007, has just been given a space on the shelf in your nearest music shop. Before shooting to acclaim with Saturday=Youth, Anthony Gonzalez looked closer to Krautrock and Eno and produced this ambient sometimes beautiful record. There’s much less of a disco feel than both Saturdays and his first album, Before the Dawn Heals Us. Some might say it’s a bit self-indulgent, not easily accessible, and more of a soundscape than a pop attempt. Yet, like Eno, Gonzalez is slowly becoming a master of the perfect chord sequence, and the result is an interesting, often heart-wrenching, set of compositions. Read about M83′s favourite songs right now.
