Rebel Unlit limited edition shirts

Set up in 2011, Rebel Unlit is a printing collaboration between London based Artists Neil Butler and Shanney Mulcahy. They make short run screen-printed t-shirts and limited edition prints from their studio in East London. All the t shirts are fair traded and printed by hand and, as a result, each one is unique.

Rebel Unlit groups its collaborative endeavours under the name PK Party. The first collaboration is a t shirt designed with artist Claire Douglass, adapted from her interactive installation The Great Beard of Joy. We’re have this collaborative piece, plus other favorites from the Rebel Unlit catalogue, in the Lost At E Minor store.

Hoverboard t shirt

A tribute to the movie trilogy Back to the Future and that childhood fantasy, the Hoverboard, and designed in the style of a vintage comic book ad that promises the earth but delivers very little, this sexy five colour screen printed t shirt is by New Zealand-based label Cuppa t shirts.

CRASS/MICKEY T-shirt

There’s a bit of a Micky Mouse mysticism meme going around lately, and I’m super happy it got combined with Crass in this amazing Cubopop T-shirt, if only for a brief moment before the cease and desists get issued.

Nature and Shuttle Smoke prints by Rebel Unlit

Inspired by Caspar David Friedrich and American Space Travel, the Das Nebelmeer print by Rebel Unlit features a unique collage of mountains and space shuttle smoke. We love this surreal piece, and its partner in crime, the Der Wanderer print. Both works are giclee prints on cotton matt archival 310 gsm paper. Check out these and other cool Rebel Unlit pieces in the Lost At E Minor store. Read more

I wonder how many guitar picks Jimi Hendrix used while he was alive? Probably not the 5,000 it took Ed Chapman, a notable British mosaic artist, to put this plectrum portrait together. It recently sold for £23,000, which will be used for cancer research. Read more

Melbourne-based artist Thomas Pavitte uses basic techniques to create complex artworks. For his take on Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, he carefully arranged and numbered 6,239 dots and then spent the next nine hours connecting them. The result is not only the (unofficial) world record for the most complex dot-to-dot drawing, but also happens to be a seriously cool piece of art. Read more

Oh man, it’s a good thing I’m not living in Tokyo as I’d probably never leave the house. Japanese TV is the best. Want proof? Check out this clip from a prank show called Wake You Up where hapless victims are woken from their slumber in the most … ummm … ruthless of ways.

New York-based Japanese artist Shusaku Arakawa designed this small apartment block in 2005 in the Tokyo suburb of Mitaka in conjunction with his poet partner, Madeline Gins. According to the SushiLog: ‘Painted in eye-catching blue, pink, red, yellow and other bright colors, the building resembles the indoor playgrounds that attract toddlers at fast-food restaurants. Inside, each apartment features a dining room with a grainy, surfaced floor that slopes erratically, a sunken kitchen and a study with a concave floor. Electric switches are located in unexpected places on the walls so you have to feel around for the right one. A glass door to the veranda is so small you have to bend to crawl out’. Read more
