Noisegaze band Screen Vinyl Image song: We Don’t Belong
Screen Vinyl Image’s latest album, Strange Behavior, is perhaps my favorite record at this moment and this is largely due to the Anthem they created with the opener, We Don’t Belong. If you like The Jesus And Mary Chain you’ll love this band. Noisegaze at its finest.

This photographer runs one of my all-time favorite blogs: his photos are truly soulful, and soul is what always makes great street photography. The way he makes all of his digital images appear analog is unique and the composition in the photos is always perfect. Read more

Photo essay on Chernobyl by Guillaume Herbaut
Guillaume Herbaut is the rare type of photographer that really captures the trifecta: emotion, history and perfect composition. Icarus Gasoline: Chilean stoner rock
The band Icarus Gasoline was formed in Punta Arenas, Chile, the southern-most city in the world. They are one of the rising stars in the underground circuit of new rock bands there, with two records under their belt. You can listen to some songs on MySpace: Meet the Changes and Lo Desaparecido are two favorites.

I love the strong lines and bold color interplay in Jay Taylor’s illustration work, which succintly captures ‘life’s little imperfections’. Most of Jay’s work is created by hand, with only simple composition and color changes being altered in the latter stages by computer. Read more

Our friends over at Sex In Art recently posted the work of Japanese artist Aya Kato. Says Justin, the founder of the site: ‘I have this folder on my desktop titled Cool Shiat. Just check her work out for yourself’. Read more
It’s pretty bold to release a 25 track double CD as your first album, but singer-songwriter Benji Hughes doesn’t care. Themes of love and heartbreak run though the album and his folk-tinged pop draws comparisons to Beck, The Eels and The Magnetic Fields. [portrait by Vanessa Prager]
