Umshini Wam: a short film by Harmony Korine
I have to say Harmony Korine really outdid himself on this one. If you’re not familiar with Korine’s work on films such as Gummo, Trashhummpers, and Mister Lonely, then you’re missing out on some Grade A history-making. Umshini Wam is a short film featuring South African rappers Ninja and Yo Landi of the notorious group Die Antword.

Sam Smith: artist and drummer for Ben Folds Five
Sam Smith is a graphic designer and drummer for the band Ben Folds Five. Smith has been pumping out some of the radest, eye-pleasing DVD covers for the Criterion Collection, my favorite being the cover he did for the Japanese horror film, House.

Rapper Doc AHK a local of Birmingham, Alabama, released his first video, F*cked Up, recently through 1987 Supply Co. Doc’s rhymes deal with real life in the South, which is so depressing for someone trying to do something real.

Daniel Clowes’ graphic novel The Death Ray

Casio Keyboard Brooklyn trio Au Revoir Simone are about to release a collection of remixes and covers their musical friends have recorded of songs found on their second album, The Bird Of Music. Titled Reverse Migration, the record features re-workings by Best Fwends, Teenagers, Darkel, and more. We caught up with them recently. Why and when did you decide to release a remix album? Annie: ‘Our friends were making so many wonderful versions of our songs we wanted to share them with the world’. How did you select the artists? Annie: ‘Mostly they were friends who told us they wanted to do remixes! Very fun and easy’. Reverse Migration is out November 11 through the band’s own label, Our Secret Record Company. Listen to Ruff & Jam by Au Revoir Simone.
