Vancouver band Data Romance
A friend and fellow producer recently introduced me to the Vancouver band, Data Romance. They toured with the Identity Festival last summer, sharing the stage with one of my favorite groups ever, Modeselektor. This gorgeous video of theirs features Lil Buck, who we all saw dancing with Yo-Yo Ma, right? Oh yeah, and Modeselektor’s new album is really, really good.

Fish Alley: an installation in Montreal
I rarely walk on the sidewalk. I find back alleys far more interesting. My favorite back alley installation is in Montreal, just south of St. Joseph, between Chambord and Brébeuf. There you’ll find a mini paradise, including two fish tanks joined by a transparent water tube, with real fish living inside. The lion statue’s pretty great too.

Robots, monsters and villains… oh my! Montreal artist, Tyson Bodnarchuk, makes you love all three of those things. He paints them, but also turns them into pillows and finger puppets. My favorites are his alphabet and Star Wars series.

File the T-Pain mic under guilty pleasure. Yes, the Auto-Tuning craze is waning (or dead). Yes, it’s T-Pain. Yes, it’s a toy that can be bought at Walmart. But not only can you record yourself, you can also Auto-Tune yourself live. I just know there has to be a fun way that this could be used in a live show. Santa, one more thing for my list.

If I had a third thumb, I’d give Kumi Yamashita three thumbs up. The Japanese artist creates stunning visual effects with lighting and simple forms, like letters of the alphabet, children’s blocks, and shoeprints. Yamashita finds the rare balance between beauty and brains.
This is super cute. Fintan Magee brings us this innocent image, which lives in one of Melbourne’s hipster hoods, Prahran. Magee appears to be steering away from his surrealism style to get in touch with his inner-child.

I stumbled upon this cool street style blog that shows original and edgy people on the streets of Helsinki. Punk, Goth, Harajuku, Pin-up or retro, the people featured here have a unique sense of style. Many of the clothes are modified or created by the owners to fit their personalities and each photo has its own description written by the person in the picture.
MIIIIIIKKKKKKKKEEE SNNNNNNOOOOWWW. Well, actually, Miike Snow. While everyone is obsessed with his track Animal, I’m loving his track Black and Blue from his new self-titled album.
