Tiny Furniture: a movie by Lena Dunham
Tiny Furniture is about a 22 year-old recent college grad returning to her artist mother’s TriBeCa loft with a virtually useless degree and a dying hamster. The main character, Aura, played by a brilliant Lena Dunham, is a far cry from most of the actresses we see on the screen these days. But she delivers this part perfectly. She is beautiful, sexy, smart and funny, but still overshadowed by the successes of her mother and sister.

Alex ‘Warble’ Harrison was my neighbor here in lovely midtown Memphis for a few months. As we became friends, I grew to love his maximalist drawings and paintings. Warble, along with Steve Pereira and an interchangeable array of Memphis musicians, make up The Warble. Check out their latest album, Predator, TN.
Snowballs: a film by Harmony Korine
If you haven’t already seen Harmony Korine’s video Snowballs, presented by fashion label Proenza Schouler, you’re really missing out. Blending magic, song and sad stereotypes, this a beautiful and surreal version of truisms.
Ok. I will admit it; I have fallen for him (them). Mr. Gnome, will you marry me? I heard El Marko off of their Madness in Miniature. Apparently this is Mr. Gnome’s third album. Their guitar and drum heavy sound, coupled with hauntingly psychedelic lyrics, leaves you thirsting for more.

Lightpainting photography isn’t always this awesome. These snowman were done using a five minute exposure on a pitchblack night with a full moon. Each snowman was created using a flashlight to trace around the edges of a person.

There are few more joys an artist has in life than coming across great resources for inspiration. Lately I’ve been studying typography, the meaning of words, and then something as simple as trying to find all the ’7 letter words’ I can so that it might fit into my latest musings. Read more
Driven by a wide spectrum of influences, the music of Brass Bed moves easily through an eclectic mix of genres: from alt-country ballads and progressive rock hooks, to sticky-sweet, heart-felt lyrics, and dissonant experimental freak-outs. As some wise folk have noted, it’s kinda like a cross between The Beach Boys and The Flaming Lips. Now, how could that be a bad thing? We have two of their songs — Olivia [listen below] and Polar Bird — available for free download in the Music Download section in the third column of Lost At E Minor.

Now I know what you’re thinking. This Australian summer you’re going to see the wayfarer style ripped-off and ruined by flouro festival wearers all over the country. But these babies aren’t just for show. Handmade by one of Italy’s most prestigious factories, using Zeiss lenses, they’re a far cry from the flimsy market numbers you’ll catch the masses wearing. Sometime in 2010, the folks behind Dirty Dishes had the slightly silly idea of using cheeky vintage photos and putting them on dinner plates. After doing lots of research, talking to lots of people, and receiving loads of positive feedback, they wondered if this idea was so silly after all. And thus Dirty Dishes was born. Read more
