Burlington, Ontario natives Sandman Viper Command destroy the competition when it comes to bluesy garage pop. My first experience with them was during our second trip to play NXNE 2011 in Toronto, Canada. As it goes with most city music festivals that feature a marathon of bands, I stumbled in on these guys because the bar they were playing at offered free booze.

Granted, I was a little buzzed at the show to judge their talent properly, but their energy kept me from slipping into a beer-induced coma. After playing with them at Arlene’s Grocery in NYC, we invited them to play a Halloween show with us in Chicago. My third time seeing these guys live was just as entertaining as the first. I can soberly judge that they are genuine, kick-ass songwriters.
