Caroline Chen
I have been to several of Caroline Chen’s exhibits at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts. Her sure but guazy painting style reminds me of Wolf Kahn’s work. If painting is feeling, I can imagine her gentle spirit being funneled through brush to canvas. Very fairly priced. And on my short list for acquisitions.

Designer and batik artist: Kathy Robinson Batik
If you travel down Germantown Avenue’s cobbled street to the Mt. Airy Section of Philadelphia you’ll come upon a tiny shop called called Artista Gallery. There you will find the whimsical, wispy and wonderful clothing of designer and batik artist, Katy Robinson. Batik is a process of dying fabric and creating designs using wax to block out patterns on the fabric. I did not fully appreciate her work until I actually tried on some of it. The pieces are unique, some are show stoppers, and all definitely meant to be worn with black to show off her work.
Ollie: a DIY autonomous robotic blimp
I first encountered Ollie at a festival at Parsons The New School for Design, New York City. The designer of this buoyant creature describes Ollie as a ‘DIY autonomous robotic blimp’. Whaaaaaaaaat? And what does one do with it? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. And therein lies the charm. Read more
Arty, crafty My My store in New Hope, Pennsylvania
‘Handmade and totally awesome’ is Maureen Ferguson’s way of describing some of the goods in her shop in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Ferguson is My My’s owner, artist-in-residence, and gal with an eye for the sublime and bewitching. She stocks her store with her own creations and those from local artists, as well as vintage clothing, housewares and furniture. One part of the store serves as a gallery of rotating artwork for sale. During the Christmas holidays, she installs her Hover Tree, a spiral, collapsible Christmas tree that hangs from the ceiling. She designed and built this one-of-a-kind tree herself
