Super hero poster design by Greg Guillemin

I love seeing different creative approaches to movie posters. Especially Batman movie posters. Here are some pretty awesome graphic design goodies by French illustrator Greg Guillemin.

West Coast USA photos by Brooke Holm

A few months ago, I went on a road trip down the west side of the USA. With cameras hanging off every limb, I photographed the glory of places like Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, San Francisco and everything in between. If they make you want to throw down your day job and catch the next plane, my work here is done. Read more

Leg huggers by Black Milk

Last year, I had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot for James Lillis — the designer behind Black Milk, which was then a budding online business selling fashion tights. Now he has a fan base of over 40,000 screaming girls all eager to jump into a pair of his next leg huggers. And for good reason. The designs are to die for and you won’t find anything nearly as cool anywhere else. Ever.

Lost and Found: an award-winning animated short film

If you appreciate ridiculously good picture books, or are somewhat obsessed with them like I am, Oliver Jeffers’ work is what you need to see. His beautiful watercolour illustrations mixed with stories that make you wish you were five years old again are nothing short of remarkable. To make matters better, his acclaimed book, Lost and Found, is now an award-winning animated short film.

You should throw in some links to the posters that are being references in this work! The references aren’t as obvious if the reader has never taken a graphic design history class. Plus it would be fun to compare the originals with their comic book versions.

Designer Haik Avanian has set up a website through which you can send an old sweater for his mom to reknit into a new item. Seeing as he only has one mom, not all orders can be filled, but you can keep trying.

I’ve just come across the music of Minneapolis band Cloud Cult, and their song Chemicals Collide in particular. Their sound is a mix of scratchy acoustic guitar riffs mixed in with staccato beats and airy harmonies, all infused with a beautiful sense of lyrical melancholy. Read more

Marc Jacobs’ newly unleashed Autumn 08 collection hit the stage this week and if there is an international designer who I couldn’t appreciate any more, then it’s Marc. His signature patent-leather goods are the apple of my eyes and I think my MJ leather-quilted wallet, stam-bag and ballet mouse flats are being overlooked for Mark Jacob’s freshly launched red velvet trimmed pumps.
