Individual chapters of books written on grains of rice
Trong G. Nguyen’s work, Library, is the entire text of individual chapters of books written word for word on grains of rice. His re-interpretation of the everyday is an ongoing theme, although Nguyen is in no way interested in being categorized into a singular artist package. As well as being the editor at Artslant, his endeavors also include being a contestant on Bravo’s reality show, Work of Art: The Next Great Artist.

Monochromatic art by Audria Brumberg
Audria Brumberg is a New York-based Illustrator and designer who has worked for clients such as Calvin Klein, Loreal, and Mattel Barbie. Her commercial work is outstanding, but what really interests me is her personal work. A monochromatic palette compliments varied textures and line beautifully, coming together to create balanced, distinctive compositions. Read more
James Francis Drinkwater is an Australian artist living and working in Berlin with his wife and fellow artist, Lottie Consalvo Drinkwater. His work ranges from oil on canvas to assemblage, and his compositions hint at a nostalgic, cubist style. Figurative, feminine and vibrant are the telling characteristics of my work. Moving between illustration and larger scale fine art, my work is homage to the people who interest and impact me. When not drawing and painting, I am an Art and Photography teacher, and you can follow my personal diary. Read more

I’m really thinking about highlighting the physical properties of paint and inks in my own work, and I’ve been looking to a lot more abstract stuff to inspire me. Stuart Elliot is a great example of someone who achieves really compelling non-representational images by masterfully exploiting untraditional combinations of different traditional painting materials. Give me a minor key song anytime. Yup, I’ll take the heartfelt purity of an introspective trawl over any warm and fuzzy major key shimmy. I once asked UK band The Editors why there aren’t more cheerful songs in the world: ‘Three words’, vocalist Tom Smith replied. ‘Shiny Happy People’. He smirked. I grimaced. Enough said.
