Torture Garden: world’s largest fetish and body art club

There are Halloween parties, and Halloween parties, and no-one does Halloween quite like Torture Garden, the world’s largest fetish and body art club. The combination of themed rooms, live shows, radical art performances, a diverse music policy and, of course, the self-expressive manifestations in the form of costumes adorned by the cutting edge crowd it attracts, makes this a night to remember. I have, on more than one occasion, stored a little sketchbook and pen in my waders to visually record the experience.

The Corner Room, London

The Corner Room, tucked away in the Town Hall Hotel, Patriot Square, E2, is a little secret treasure that is well worth a visit. I recently took German artist Olaf Hajek there on a ‘business dinner’ where we pondered over London pigeon and chianti the benefits of fine art over illustration.

I’m also presently gearing up for the What if conference where, I will be ‘scribering’, as well as planning my next exhibition of authorial work.

This has to be one of the best design websites going around. The greatest part of the website is how you can filter design by colour. Mix and match a couple of colours and BANG! It will show you all the designs that utilize them.

Macedônian brutal doom outfit Potop, whose name means ‘flood’ in Polish, is one of the most anguished, despairing, dirty, hateful bands of the genre since Burning Witch. Their down-tuned, down-tempo sludge is virulently anti-life, oozing out of the speakers like poison gas. Read more

One part wilderness, one part fashion, all Poppy and Moe: a vintage-inspired knitwear brand with a fabulous line-up of hand-drawn graphics. We love this brand for the nature undercurrent in their designs, all printed on chic silhouettes: a fox with flowers meets an off the shoulder pullover, a cat goddess living on a deep-plunged racerback tank.
