This upcoming artists’ work never fails to interest me. Its ghostly figures and dreamlike (almost memorial) environments absolutely strike me. He also incorporates tremendously designed typography in some of his works, adding to a narrative of the piece. Bascara has an upcoming solo show, The Violet Hour, at Brooklyn College.

New artwork from Louis Spano

My new body of work is concerns beauty and dealing with looking and being looked at. Five out of twenty six paintings are finished as I aim for a particular narrative within the series as a whole. Read more

Edward Kim’s Basketball art series

I’ve found his paintings to be utterly spiritual. In particular, his basketball body of work. The work deals with ritualistic ceremonies that are causally present within each sporting event; alongside the idolization of particular sport players or items.

Satirical and sexually charged comic art by Tina Lugo

I’ve found her work to be incredibly satirical, sexual, and often quite creepy. Comic, TV and other various pop culture characters are thrown into peculiar situations, generally ending on a sexually covered satirical note. Read more

We checked in with Los Angeles-based photographer, Matthew Scott, and asked him how his recent move from San Francisco has impacted on his career: ‘Work-wise, it’s been a very positive move. There’s a lot more going on down here, not that San Francisco doesn’t have things going on as well. It’s just a simple fact about the size of Los Angeles. There’s a lot more editorial assignments to shoot here, and that has been good’. Read more

Robert Montgomery is a London-based artist, or maybe a poet, who hijacks billboards, empty ad spaces on the streets and backlit metro lights with his words of wisdoms. Instead of illustrations, he uses typography to get his message across, which is pretty cool because people actually would stop and read. Read more

Have you ever felt engulfed by a strange mix of emotions, ones which make you feel all giddy? Well, that’s what this track — Not For All The Love In the World — does to me. French pop-folk extraordinaire Sebastian Tellier remixes Irish pop band The Thrills. Totally luscious and dreamy, especially the glockenspiel sound. Beautiful stuff.
