I speak a little French, but when I watch French films, I always have to read the subtitles. So, yes, I may be more forgiving of them than English films, where I’m not constantly lowering my eyes every five seconds (some might say like talking to a girl with giant boobs). But this film, and more importantly, this trailer above, was a big influence on me.

Even though it turned out nothing like this, I originally envisioned my film Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead as Masculine Feminine with Vampires (and Shakespeare). But one thing to keep in mind if you don’t speak French is that all nouns have a gender in French, so the division of masculine and feminine is much grander and all encompassing for the French. At least on a subconscious level.
